We want you to feel confident when you use LaCie’s products. You can replace a keyboard, processor or printer but you do not want to lose your data. Your hard drive is your memory; you need to be able to back up on a second device easily. As you keep a lot of yourself and your life inside this box, we want you to look outside the box and feel good about your choice. We hope that you appreciate our ergonomic designs and superior aesthetics.
To better understand and serve the needs of our customers, we do not outsource our tech support or repair center. We work locally, with offices and tech support in 15 different countries and languages. We are proud of our two manufacturing sites in Oregon and France. About half of LaCie’s approximately 400 employees are part of our technical teams - jobs that our competitors outsource. It is an excellent way to stay connected.
We began creating with world-famous designers in 1992. From Ziba Design to Philippe Starck and now Porsche Design GmbH, Karim Rashid and Ora-Ito, you are getting a piece of art when you buy a storage solution. For the past 12 years, we have had a close partnership with a fantastic Scottish designer, Neil Poulton, who designs and upgrades our “bullet proof” professional d2 line. We believe that working with these designers is the best way to bring you cutting-edge design.
We trust our in-house engineering team’s expertise for the best electronics and software design. Over the past 10 years, we have consistently been first-to-market with such innovations as the first USB/FireWire board, SCSI drive, USB bus-powered hard drive, SATA external drive, FireWire 800 hard drive and Terabyte hard drive. Next year, we will double the size of our research lab and marketing experts to maintain industry leadership, while creating simple and fast storage solutions.
Our customers claim that we have the most loyal and honest sales team on the market. LaCie’s salespeople focus on explaining new technologies and keeping our products as competitive as possible.
The last secret ingredient of LaCie’s success is that we run a very competitive organization. Our financial team and IT department keep our information accurate and updated. Our procurement team can move products much faster than anyone else. This “finance IS logistics” organizational method gives us a chance to sell hot products at the lowest cost without compromising on quality or service.
In the coming years, LaCie will be more network- and multimedia-centric, while creating everything from massive multi-Terabyte systems to miniscule USB keys.
